Sometimes our best laid plans are changed when God says wait. Our family was planning to be in Rwanda by this time. When Jon and I got married we said it was just a temporary thing for us to be in North America; I was just going to finish my new registrant year as a midwife in Ontario and off we would go. Well here we are, two and a half years later and not at all ready to go. God has blessed us with a precious little boy, Isaiah, and another baby soon to arrive. At this time in our lives that means we are staying here. With two little ones so close together we feel like God is saying that for now, Canada is our home. Our hearts long for Rwanda; we spend lots of time still dreaming about it and longing for when we get to be there. But for now we know this is where God has called us to be and we are thrilled to be blessed with this little family. Over the past many years this song has spoken to me and today it did again, as we are in this season of being called to wait, wait to be released to go back to Africa.
If you say go, we will go
If you say wait, we will wait
If you say step out on the water, and they say it can’t be done, we’ll fix our eyes on you and we will come.
